This is a video response for the new show on the TWiT network.
But this is one of those things that come up every couple months/weeks.
What do you think?
The Gold in the Tubes
Ok, I have had a chance to watch both of the jlandkev videos and the YTBulletTrain video.
Here is Kevins original video:
The YTBulletTrain Response:
Then Kevin’s response:
And here is my response:
So, in an hour or so when you finish all of those, come back and see me here.
Kevin’s book is down there in the corner, you can support both him and me by buying it.
Ok, all of that done? Excellent. You must have a dog in this race too if you are actually still reading! Even more excellent.
Kevin clarified the situation a little more in his second video and refocused on the disappointment he felt because this youtuber had a confession video that stated that everything was BS in the previous videos. I only had a quick mention in the 20 minute diatribe on the Real vs. Fake dilemma that YT presents us with. With the introduction of monetization the Real vs. Fake dilemma moves a bit more to front and center.
It’s not about money per se, it is about leading a community on. Community takes time to develop. You have to put yourself out there and hope people like to watch your videos, interact, and hopefully everyone will come back for another video. If you have a community, that is what can make you a self sustaining YouTuber. Or author. Or almost anything.
Is vlogging dead?
There are a lot of related topics for this video. I ought to dig in a bit more and write about a few. But for now, don’t miss the mwesch vid. it is a great trip through youtube history.
